What makes selecting a TrustMark tradesmen so worthwhile? An approved scheme operator has checked the firm's technical skills, trading record and financial position. The firm has signed up to a code of practice that includes insurance, good health and safety practices and customer care. The approved scheme operator has checked and willcontinue to monitor their quality of work,trading practices and customer satisfaction. The firm will tell you about any buildingregulations you must meet and may be able togive you the certificates you need. If you have a problem or disagreement with the firm, there will be a clear and user friendly complaints procedure to help sort out the problem. If the firm doesn't automatically provide insurance cover you will have the option to buy a warranty. If a firm displays our TrustMark logo you know that we have approved and inspected the firm through one of our scheme operators and found that the firm meets the required Government endorsed criteria as described above.

NHBC - The National House-Building Council is the standard setting body and leading warranty and insurance provider for new and newly converted homes in the UK. Their role is to work with the house-building and wider construction industry to provide risk management services that raise the standards of new homes, and to provide consumer protection to new home buyers. NHBC provides a broad range of services to the house-building and wider construction industry. Improvement in new homes is driven by the quality and combination of the services they provide to the industry, and through the customer feedback they receive on these services.

Trading Standards Buy With Confidence - The Buy With Confidence and Customer First schemes were initiated by Hampshire County Council and Devon County Council respectively to help businesses comply with the law while improving consumer protection through a partnership approach. Both schemes have now spread to a number of Local Authorities across the South and continue to grow. It has been agreed that the two schemes will merge under the name and logo of Buy With Confidence. Businesses signing up to their responsibilities set down in the rules of the Scheme will become 'Approved Members'. The scheme also includes a clear statement of the service that the scheme operators will provide member businesses. The Scheme is run by a partnership of local Trading Standards Services. E.B.C. (European Builders Confederation) is a European professional organisation, which represents national organisations that represent craftsmen and SMEs from the construction sector. E.B.C was set up in 1990 and currently has sixteen member organisation and partners representing eleven countries (Belgium, France, Czech Republic, Hungary, Italy, Luxembourg, United Kingdom, Spain, Romania, Slovenia and Poland) and approximately 500.000 craftsmen and small and medium-sized enterprises in the building sector.
E.B.C's main tasks are:
